Home Insulation Installation in South Jersey

Many homes lack sufficient insulation, which leaves them vulnerable to energy waste and unnecessarily-high heating and cooling costs. If your goal is to improve the overall efficiency of your existing home to save energy and boost comfort, having it properly insulated is a cost-effective way to control heat transfer and reduce energy consumption.

At Harriett’s Energy Solutions, we believe that taking a whole-house approach is the most effective way to improve efficiency and reap energy savings. The ideal starting point for making improvements is having our highly-trained and certified technicians perform an energy audit. An audit provides an in-depth analysis of the state of your home’s efficiency, including the insulation levels.

Need an Insulation Company in the Medford Area?

The specialized tools and techniques employed by our technicians during an energy audit can reveal the specific areas of your home where insulation is missing or extra is needed. Common trouble spots in existing homes include the attic, exterior walls and basement or crawlspace. Once the audit is complete, we can recommend the correct types of insulation and installation methods to bring deficient areas we’ve identified up to the U.S. Department of Energy’s recommended R-values for optimal efficiency.

The three types of insulation most often recommended and installed by our Building Performance Institute-certified technicians are spray foam, cellulose, and fiberglass.

  • Spray foam insulation. Spray foam is a mix of liquid insulating materials applied using pressurized equipment and a heated hose. As the material is sprayed into place, it adheres to the surfaces it contacts and immediately starts to expand, trapping billions of tiny gas bubbles. When it’s properly installed by an experienced insulation company like Harriett’s Energy Solutions, the foam forms an even layer of high R-value insulation. The expanding foam also fills in gaps and cracks to effectively seal air leaks and limit moisture intrusions, so it reduces drafts and lessens the risk of mold growth and structural decay. This type of insulation is most often used in areas like enclosed walls, open wall cavities and unfinished attics.
  • Cellulose insulationCellulose insulation is made from mostly recycled paper, so it’s an eco-friendly alternative that keeps waste out of landfills. The paper is ground up into tiny pieces of cellulose fiber and heavily treated with a safe chemical like borax, boric acid, or ammonium sulfate, which makes it fire retardant and resistant to mold growth and pest infestations. Our experienced technicians install cellulose with a specialized blower using the dense pack method to insulate exterior wall cavities. Loose fill cellulose is ideal for installation on the floor of an unfinished attic.
  • Fiberglass insulation. Because of its comparatively low cost, fiberglass insulation has long been a popular choice for improving the thermal performance of New Jersey homes. The lightweight material is made from thin strands of spun glass, so it’s non-flammable, moisture-resistant and reduces sound transfer. Available in unfaced and vapor-retarder faced batts and rolls, as well as in loose fill form, fiberglass insulation is most often installed in exterior wall cavities, ceilings and between the joists on an attic floor.
